1921 saw John Taylor established himself in Bolton offering Electrical Maintenance Services to the local factories and mills.
 
As electricity was becoming commonplace in the home, John Taylor recognised an opportunity and was one of the first companies to install electric installations in domestic properties. In addition he set up shop on Deane Road selling repairing and electrical appliances.
 
In 1930 Frank Brogden aged 14 joined the company and started his apprenticeship. In 1938 Frank Brogden left J Taylor to join the Cunard Line as an Electrical Officer on the Cruise Line. Sailing mainly between Liverpool and New York.
 
In 1946, after serving in the Merchant Navy Frank returned to Bolton and J Taylor Electricals and in 1948 the company was registered as a Limited Company. Concentrating in Industrial Installations and Maintenance and Service contracts for local industries.
 
Over the next three decades the company continued to offer Electrical Maintenance for the likes of Bolton Metro - maintenance in schools, nursing homes and libraries etc, J.W. Foster and Sons - the founders of Reebok, Kays Foundry, Keogh Ritsons Solicitors.
 
In 1960 J Taylor ECL completely rewired Hall'ith'Wood Museum, after the initial problem that some of the lads would not enter the premises, as at the time it was believed to be the most Haunted House in Bolton.
 
1982 saw Frank's daughter Hilary Hibbert join the company and in 1984 Jeff Hibbert - after managing a number of major projects in Mexico and Oman - returned to the UK and took over as Director.
 
Over the next 25 years J Taylor Electrical Contractors Ltd was firmly established as a reliable professional and courteous company, providing high quality maintenance services and bespoke installations and Electrical Testing services to the local Industries, Offices and Domestic sectors.
 
In 2000 the company moved to larger premises on Tonge Moor Road and in 2007 Paul joined the company full time.
 
The Company has continued to expand with our trusted team of qualified Electricians carrying out installation work on various production sites for export to France, China and the Far East.
 
Now Specialists in Flameproof Wiring, working in Hazardous and Flameproof Areas and Design and Installation of General Power and Lighting systems and are also now researching environmentally friendly electricity supplies, such as Solar/Photovoltaic panels, Wind and Hydro Turbines and intelligent lighting systems.
 
Over the past 87 years J Taylor Electrical Contractors Ltd have been involved with all aspects of Electrical Installations and seen many changes within the industry, yet our standards and professionalism have remained constant.
